The Marvelous Wonderettes
by NYTP Staff

The music of 50s and 60s is now making a comeback as ‘The Marvelous Wonderettes' at the Westside Theatre in the New York City. Roger Bean, the Director exhibits the talents and brilliance of four marvelous women. The show is set in Springfield High School's gymnasium, courtesy the decorations of swell crepe-paper, made by Michael Carnahan. The female students offer entertainment for senior prom after crooning crabcakes. Members of boys glee club were not allowed to appear due to the smoking infraction of their leader. The nervous marvelous wonderettes girls are singing seriously even at the last minute, hoping to be elected prom queen. With the help of Bobby Pearce, the Costume Designer, the girls are looking lovely and entertain the crown in crinoline and taffeta. Choreography has been smartly devised for the show by Janet Miller. The terrific backdrop of the entertainment is provided by the stories of the girls. The cast thrill the audience with dozens of tunes culled from pop charts of mid-century. Audience leave the show humming the songs.
