The new musical, Spring Awakening, a mature, musical romance, can be viewed at Eugene O'Neill Theatre in NYC. The creative team includes Steven Sater, the playright, Michael Mayer, the Director, Bill T. Jones, the innovative choreographer. The provocative and exhilarating rock musical is about hidden passions, lasting regrets and first loves. The event is based on the controversial 19th century play by Frank Wedekind, banned for 71 years. Spring Awakening discusses the confusing, thrilling and sexual awakening in the young people. The songs by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik focuses the urgency of self-discovery, adolescence, burning desire for friendships and the uncomprehending adult world. The story is about Melchior, a young brilliant student, Moritz, his troubled friend and Wendla, a beautiful girl on the way to womanhood. The score and multitalented cast are modern, exciting and fresh.
