Opened in the year 1927 by Ben Bass, Strand Books, the legendary book store of New York, was named after the London’s publishing street. Ben’s son started looking after the store from his age 13 and moved the store to Broadway by renting 4,000 sq.ft. space. Today, Strandbooks occupy 55,000 sq.ft. space. The Bass family owns the Broadway and 12th Street building. The family also operates kiosks in the Central Park.
