Il Buco
by NYTP Staff

If one were to list the most charming restaurants in the city of New York, Il Buco would have its pride of place amongst the top listed ones. Before this place was converted into a restaurant, it housed a antique store and this is echoed in the environment and the décor of the restaurant. One can find antique kerosene and candle lightings, country tables, antique furnishings and artisan chandeliers. The predominantly Mediterranean menu compliments the furnishings and is prepared by chef Ignacio Mattos.

The menu consists of a huge list of seasonal appetizers along with entrees and pastas that change according to the market. One can find Italian influence in the cuisine available over here and lots of selected ingredients are imported from Italy. This includes the best olive oil from Umbria, one of the 20 regions of Italy, and is specially prepared for Il Buco. If you are visiting New York and want to get a feel of the romantic old city, this is the place you should check out.
