Chanterelle
by NYTP Staff

Originally accommodated in a small storefront of SOHO district, Chanterelle which is owned by the husband & wife team of Karen & David Waltluck was established in 1979 and was immediately acclaimed by one and all. Within a short span of time this restaurant became one of the most popular regarded restaurants of New York. The innovative dishes of David Waltuck were based on classical French recipes and this, combined with the excellent service provided by Karen earned Chanterelle 4 stars by New York Times in the year 1987.

One year after receiving the award from the New York Times, Chanterelle moved over to its present location. The oversized tables, adequately spaced are attended by immaculately train staff. All the staff has full knowledge of wine, food and service. Some of the best wines of France can be found in the wine cellars of this restaurant that has more than 3000 bottles of wine including rare ones like Burgundy & Bordeaux. Some of the best in French cuisine can be found in this restaurant.
