Crotona Park

Crotona Park, named after the Greek Colony known for Olympic athletes, has served Bronx community since 1888, when the park was purchased by the New York City. Crotona park, being more than hundred years old, is the most important park in the Bronx. Naturalists appreciate the Crotona Park for its 28 kinds of tree species and the stunning 3.3 acre lake housing the ducks, fish and turtles. The visitors to the park get thrilled by its manmade structures. The park boasts of the borough’s largest 300 feet pool. While the 20 hard courts of the park serve tennis buffs in the warm season, 5 diamonds attract the baseball teams. Apart from this the 11 playgrounds spread across the park attract many families. Both young and old people spend their Saturdays, exploring the wonders of the park. Being the largest park of South Bronx and 6th largest in the borough, Crotona park have attractive features like lofty trees, rolling grass sanctuary, a large pool, a peaceful lake and baseball diamonds.
