Bryant Park
by NYTP Staff

Till 1840, the site of Bryant Park was used as a potter’s field, a burial place. A reservoir was constructed in the place of New York Public Library. In 1847, the potter’s field was converted into Reservoir Park. After the removal of the reservoir, the place was named as Bryant Park by William Cullen Bryant, editor of New York Evening Post. Being at the heart of Manhattan, Bryant Park is an ideal destination for the visiting tourists. The park is very near to the theater district, Times Square, and New York Public Library. The Park plays its role as an ideal venue for New York Fashion Week. The Pond is used for winter ice skating and the lawn is used to screen free summer movies. Apart from these, endless meetings and meals are held at the tables in the park. Every year, a large number of tourists visit the Parisian-esque park to experience the scenic beauty.
