Battery Park

The New York City’s history began in the Battery Park. Battery Park has played a key role in the history of New York in the past 200 years. Battery Park has ready access to the Hudson river and the harbor. Dutch settlers and Native Americans recognized the strategic location of the area and called it as Capske Hook, meaning rocky ledge. Castle Garden, inside the park was the first immigrant depot of the world where millions of people reached from Europe and elsewhere. Even today, tourists from all over the world visit the park for viewing the past. Ferries pick up the tourists to the Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty and summer concerts on the grounds. Beautiful flower gardens and waterfront are the main attractions of Battery Park. Battery Park lies is the tip of Manhattan attracting visitors with its 30 acres of gardens, one mile esplanade, public art, playgrounds and offers best views of Hudson River. Many people take a long stroll from the Manhattan’s southern tip to start their walking tours.
