Astoria Park
by NYTP Staff

Astoria Park is the largest and oldest in the Queens. The park is popular for its offerings such as aquatic pleasures, beautiful pool, a bandstand, a track, outdoor tennis courts, basketball courts, multiple trails, baseball diamonds and playground. The visitors are also lured by the spectacular views offered by the park. People sit on the East River’s edge and rest between the Hell Gate Bridge and Triborough Bridge. The sounds and shoreline sights offered by the park make the benches popular all year round. On the West Shore, Astoria Park extends from the southern side of Triborough Bridge to the northern side of Hell Gate Bridge. Faults deep underground formed the Hell Gate channel, which contains New York Harbor’s deepest water. The treacherous reefs of the channel bear attractive names like ‘Pot Rock’, ‘Hen and Chickens’, Bald Headed Billy’ and ‘Bread & Cheese’. Astoria Park offers diverse scenery of New York city’s landscape with a panoramic view of midtown Manhattan’s skyscrapers in South to Hell Gate channel in north.
