Best Parks and Gardens in New York City

There are many fascinating parks and gardens that are there in New York. You are sure to have a great time taking a walk down the beautiful paths and attending the many events that are held in the New York parks & gardens throughout the year.

 

Battery Park - This is one of the most well known New York parks & gardens and is situated at Manhattan. The park is home to the only fort in the city, Castle Clinton.

 

Blue Heron Park - This beautiful park is home to swamps, wetland ponds and streams that flow into the Raritan bay. You can go on guided walks while you are here.

 

Central Park - Spread across 800 acres this was the very first landscaped park in America. There are playgrounds, ponds and scenic views galore that are present in the garden.

 

Wave Hill - This place contains some of the best gardens as well as greenhouses in the city. There are a plethora of activities that are held here for visitors including lectures, exhibitions, concerts and workshops.

 

Queens Botanical Garden - Spread across a large area it is an oasis of greenery in the city. This is a place where plants, cultures and people meet. These are some of the most beautiful gardens and visiting it is sure to be a delightful experience.

 

Staten Island Botanical Garden - This place with its Victorian charm and elegance is one of the most beautiful New York parks & gardens that you must visit while you are in the city.

 

Prospect Park - This is a 526 acre garden that is situated at Brooklyn. The park is home to a 60-acre Lake, a 90-acre Long Meadow and the only forest in the city. It has been designed by the same architects Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted who also designed the Central Park.

 

Pelham Bay Park - This is spread across 2700 acre and is the largest park in the city. The variety of habitats in the park is home to a diverse wildlife. There are a number of noteworthy environmental features that are there in the park.

 

Besides these there are a number of other New York parks & gardens that are there such as Brooklyn Botanic Garden, High Rock Park, Brooklyn Heights Promenade, The Greenbelt Nature Center and New York Botanical Garden.
