Wall Street (Financial District)
by NYTP Staff

There must be very few people who have never heard of the Wall Street. Every day millions of people look up to this place as their fortunes are made and lives are changed. This street in Lower Manhattan that lies on the East River soon led to creation of the Wall Street neighborhood purely due to its great influence on the surrounding areas. It is home to several major U.S. stock and other exchanges like the NYSE, NASDAQ, AMEX, NYMEX AND NYBOT.

The street derived its name being the northern boundary of the New Amsterdam settlement. It has been criticized for having a very rigid culture and still makes it very difficult for most middle class entrepreneurs to get into the neighborhood. The World Trade Center built in 1970s is a very old and influential sky scraper that is a must one should visit while here. It has been rightly said to be ‘Corporate America’. A lot of personalities associated with this place have grown to become elite business group’s world wide. It is a place most stand in awe of till date. And in keeping with its image is the Charging Bull sculpture that truly represents the bull market economy.
