Upper East Side
by NYTP Staff

The ‘Silk Stocking District’, today more popularly known as the Upper East Side lies in the borough of Manhattan in the New York City. It is one of the costliest real estates in the United States. The Upper East Side is home to some of world’s most famous museums in the world and the New Roman Gallery at the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a very beautiful visual treat. The ‘Museum Mile’ that extends from the Fifth Avenue to the Central Park was once named “Millionaire’s Row”. Among the famous cultural institutions that feature here includes Asia Society, Frick Collection, National Academy of Design, Neue Galerie and the Society of Illustrators.

The Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of the City of New York and the Jewish Museum of New York are just a few of the great places you could visit if you are an art buff. The neighborhood is also associated with some of world’s most wealthy, powerful and influential families and individuals. It is the place where you can find some of New York’s most elite salons and gourmet restaurants. Apart from the world-famous museums, this place is also famous for its elite schools, luxury boutiques and proximity to the Central Park. And even if you could not afford to buy anything, you would still be happy to get a great window shopping!
