If you are craving for some good Italian food, Little Italy is the place to be. The Mulberry Street and the Grand and Canal streets bring to you the world’s best Italian eateries that could make your taste buds come truly alive. You can also get home all of the Italian baking needs including the great herbs. Quite a change from the old hey-way days when Italian immigrants concentrated in the slum areas of Five Points neighborhood, they then moved to make the Little Italy. However, today a large part of this area is mainly absorbed by Chinatown.

 

It is true today that most Italians have moved out to other neighborhoods. However, at one point of time, Little Italy was supposed to be the house of the notorious Mafia in United States. Today however this famous and ethnic neighborhood is more famous for its Italian restaurants and the old world charm. The annual fest of San Gennaro held in September is one of the most important occasions to be in Little Italy. This grand street fair is attended by more than a million people and lasts for 11 days. And don’t forget to be part of the famous cannoli-eating competition while you are there!
