Chelsea
by NYTP Staff

A neighborhood on the West side of Manhattan borough in the New York City, Chelsea is famous as an early center for most motion pictures captured before the First World War. Located along side the Hudson River, Chelsea has developed from being a simple house of the British Major Thomas Clarke to a becoming a center of art scene in New York. The Rubin Museum of Art, the Chelsea Art Museum, the Dance theatre workshop and Graffiti Research Lab along with numerous art galleries justify the status accorded to this amazing place. And if you are a food lover, the Chelsea market is the ultimate destination for you!

Chelsea is a proud part of the National Register of Historic places. Chelsea’s historic district can help you witness the art and culture of the 1800’s. Yet the transition from a dominantly industrial area to the current hip-hop entertainment stage has been tremendous. It is home to the world-famous Madison Square Garden, Chelsea Piers Sports and Entertainment complex, Hudson River Park, High Line, the People’s Improv theatre and the Grand Opera house.  It is one place where everything just rocks – the night life, art, recreation and sports. In short, you name it and Chelsea has it for you!
