First of all, this is THE W-A, so it is an amazing (and amazingly historic) hotel. The room was HUGE, especially for being in the heart of Manhattan. We had an OK-sized bathroom, a nice sized living room, a bedroom w/ King and a walk-in closet.
BAM!!!
The service was great and any staff we came across were helpful.
BUT....there were some things I was not crazy about, like the bathroom door was big and swung open w/in an inch of the toilet - NOT convenient. And the hotel, as historic as it is, is also OLD...the dark hallways w/ old carpet reminded me of "The Shining," no kidding.
But all in all it was a great stay for a weekend. Truly awesome to have stayed in 1 of America's most historic and luxurious hotels.![]()

Everything was very good, except that the evening 'turn down' service was not performed, so the bath towels from afternoon were not changed and there was no breakfast card to fill in. Otherwise, room was clean, fresh and bright. All in all, good value for money. ![]()
Great Service

My husband and I loved the attentive service, and especially appreciated the free upgrade to a larger King room. The quality of the service and the history put this hotel in the 5-star category. However, we've stayed in hotels with nicer rooms in 4-star hotels.
We recommend the Bear & the Bull bar for a nightcap. The bartenders were hilarious & very attentive. Be prepared to spend $30-40 for two drinks (unless you are drinking the $6 pints of beer).![]()

The only thing wrong with this room was that it smelled a little less fresh than I would have liked. Otherwise, it was fabulous. ![]()
Overpriced and overhyped

The hotel staff were really good, the location is excellent BUT the hotel itself is faded glory, the rooms we were in (and we were part of a large conference) were in serious need of redecoration and upgrade, if I had paid $100 per night it might just have been acceptable, for $600 it most certainly was not.![]()
Needs Some Improvements

I have stayed at the Waldorf Astoria now on 3 occasions....i love the location of this hotel....Park Avenue.
Great location for 5th Avenue shopping...although close to all other areas you will deff visit.
Hotel rooms are of stardard size for NY....most rooms not very large if you book std rooms.
Hotel has a very 'Old World Glamour ' feel with still with all original features from when hotel was first built.
I have saw many celebs at this hotel, and watched first hand a hollywood movie being filmed in the lobby!!!![]()

Waldorf Astoria. A classic piece of NYC. Had to be done really, as (for now) it was my only visit to NYNY. I am so glad i stayed here. Yes, its not your trendy boutique hotel in the village, but it is a piece of history, and its like living, in a piece of history. Great service from all, had a refrigerator delivered to the room FOC - great for keeping beers in ! - wonderful service from front of house, great bar - who could resist having a manhattan in manhattan !! - just a great place to spend a long weekend. i would recommend it. room was fine, a litlle dated, but what do you expect. everything clean and working order. had great alarm clock with ipod docking station.![]()
Met our expectations
