The hotel was great 4 star accomodations at a 3 star price. The concierge and services were spectacular. They created an atmosphere of comfort and convieiance for us. We went as a romatic weekend for parents that don't get out much together. On check in they heard us talking about the weekend and they sent a complimentary bottle of wine to our room. We also called the concierge for suggestions on places to eat with specific requirements and they made some interesting suggestions including booking the reservations while we were enjoying the sites. The only challenge is to manage your expectations on a hotel room in NYC. They are alwyas smaller then you think.![]()

This was our fourth stay at this hotel. Always friendly, always clean. This time, our queen room was considerably smaller and noisier than on previous visits. Two times in the past, we had been offered an upgrade. This time, very noisy plumbing from room next door and very loud street noise. Still, an enjoyable stay because hotel is festive and very international.

Not Worth The Price

*The temperature in the room would never get below 75 degree farenheit. When we called to get it fixed, the maintenance man was terribly rude and obnoxious-- it is his job to fix problems in the hotel. *We called the front desk for fan after the maintenance man could not fix the problem. They told us they would bring it right up... the fan was never delivered. *For the price, the room was not worth it. It was small and stuffy.

Newly renovated. so it was a very nice room. However the heat and air did not work in my room or my sons so we both had to sleep with the window open! Luckily it wasn't too cold outside. No place in the bathroom to put anything, had to use the nightstand. Concerge very helpful.Let us into room early.![]()

The Carlton was a very nice choice for our recent weekend stay in the city. Fairly close to Penn Station (~10 minute walk) and other subway lines, my wife and I were able to catch trains to the Village and the Upper West Side fairly easily. The hotel's recent upgrades are really quite nice. The lobby is warm and inviting, the room's recent bathroom upgrade was welcomed. The only negative comment we have about this charming boutique hotel is that we had to wait ~10 minutes for the hotel bellman to collect and, later that day, return a few bags we left in storage. We will definitely come back. A ten minute walk to Penn Station, with s ![]()
