Good Location

If you don't care about staying someplace too fancy, then this hotel works well. It turned out to be perfectly located for my needs. I'm still shocked by the prices one has to pay in mid-town Manhattan, but compared to other name-brand hotels, this one seems "cheap".

A Budget Hotel

If all you need is a bed to sleep in at night and won't be spending much time in the room, this could be the place for you. It is located right off of Times Square and 1/2 block from the subway. The room was small (16' x 16', including the bathroom) but quiet. No natural light and not much fresh air to speak of. Does have wireless.

Good thing the lighting is poor

Carpet filthy and footprints on the walls. The front desk staff was courteous and helpful.

Perfect location for shows

Right around the corner from Times Square and walking distance to all theaters.

Clean room

The best part of this hotel was the beds which were very comfortable. The bathroom also was quite roomy. The personnel seemed very nice and helpful. The room itself was tiny. The twin beds barely had space between them to walk. The window faced an ugly courtyard.

Not a good choice

Room very small. Window would not lock. View was a brick wall. Carpet dirty and stained. Shower was moldy. Sink continuously dripped. No air conditioning. Unable to control heat. One bar of soap for two people that was not replaced in the three nights we stayed there. Ice machine in basement that was a scarey place. Would not stay there again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Pretty Good

the hotel was pretty good for the location. right off times square, the hotel was small but comfortable. the bathtub was clogged but repaired quite quickly. the overall condition of the hotel was good, i enjoyed my stay there.

Portland Square Hotel

This hotel was great with location, but customer service was subpar. Our television remote and console were both broken and we stated this to the front desk upon arrival. We stayed 3 days and nothing was done to correct the problem with the television. This was not a big deal because we were staying right in Times Square, but it would have been nice to have a television to watch with the price we were paying for the hotel.

Great for the money

We were extremely pleased with our stay at the Portland Square Hotel. Although the room was spartan, e.g. no mirrors or pictures, it was clean with the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept on for a while. Our room was also extraordinarily quiet. And, as far as location, right of Times Square. If you just need a place to sleep and shower, the Portland Square Hotel is an excellent choice. We're definitely staying there, again.

Great Location

Although the room was quite small, it was very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable. There was a nice size bathroom that had both a shower and a tub. The location couldn't be beat.
