New York City

The hotel is very well located but dont expect anything fancy. Room was clean and even the shared bathroom was clean.

This hotel was perfect if you just need a place to crash in New York city. The price is affordable and the hotel is fine. The only complaint is that you do not have your own private bathroom. The bedroom is fine and the bathroom is clean, its just you have to walk down the hall to get there and potentially it could be occupied. You can not beat the location and price for a New York City hotel though.

The hotel is in great location. The room was fine, but the bathroom was not clean. Also an elevator was not working in my floor, so I had to go to another floor to catch the elevator, and it was slow. The man on the reception desk was not friendly with me. He asked me unrelated questions.

Pros- Good location if you are interested in going to the village, theatre and shopping. Good place to stay if you are out most of the day. Cons- Dirty. Smelly. One small elevator for the entire place (long waits). The room is about as large as a walk in closet (no exageration!) The bathroom is very small and old, and the hot water took about 3 minutes to arrive after you turn it on. No Ice, No ammendities besides a TV and phone.

We would recommend this hotel based on location and cleanliness of the rooms. If you're looking for a place to stay close to Time Square, Fith Ave, Central Park, and the Empire State Building, this is the place for you as it's all within walking distance. (and good thing is if you walk too far there's always a cab you can hail for around $8-$12... if you walk 3-5 or so miles away from the hotel and are too tired or have too many bags to carry back). One thing to consider, if your light sleepers or prefer to go to bed early, the night club right next door plays loud music till around 2:30am (Thurs, Fri,& Sat)... Our accomodations were that of the shared bathroom sort, I will say, it wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been... The hotel appears to be "on it" with the upkeep. When we visit again The Latham Hotel for the money is the place to stay!

I come into NYC once a year, for the WFMU Record Fair on West 18th St. This year marked my first time at the Latham, and I found myself very pleased overall. The desk staff were quite friendly and my room was clean and comfortable. Initially I was a bit leery about the shared bathroom, but this proved to be unfounded as it was excellently maintained. The location could not be better as there are plenty of subway stops along 28th St., and restaurants, delis and coffee shops abound. I would definitely be more than pleased to book a room here, again, in the future.
