Service- all Hotel staff were helpful and able-I arrived at 3AM and was greeted with a warm smile great welcome after a long plane flight.. My room - restroom had some issues-the maintanace staff was there and corrected it quickly. There were no delays. Your Spa and gym was a plus for the members of my party that used them. I will return- thank you for a great time.
Charming Hotel with history

Hotel price was very reasonable for service and quality provided. Mood lights in the room are a wonderful addition. One draw back is there is no coffee maker and you would have to pay room service for a pot in your room. Brunch was a original

Good not Great

The Essex House is a nice hotel in a great location. You're directly across the street from Central Park, 1/8 mile to 5th ave shopping and 1/2 block to the subway. The area appears very safe and very high end. I do recommend this hotel but read on. The staff was great, very accommodating and polite. The room was nice, nothing special, and small. We did get a very good rate through Hotels.com and that had us on the 6th floor with no real view. If you could be on a higher floor and have a Park view, it would really be something special. My reasons for a Good not Great rating, is the attention to detail in the room. When we arrived in the room, the TV didn't work and the tub drain plug had been pulled out and left in the middle of the tub. A call to the front desk had someone in our room within 5 minutes, all fixed quickly. The first and second nights the phone would just ring one time and no one was there. This happened every few hours. After the 2nd night I reported it to the front desk, and it never happened again. Starting the second day, the shower would just shut off for no reason. The tub would work but the shower would go on and off intermittently. I reported it, but they never could fix it. If you can get a good price, I would really recommend this hotel. Our problems in the room we're probably a fluke and did not ruin our trip. If you are use to very high end hotels, this will be a bit disappointing. If you are use to an economy hotel, you will love Essex House.

Should be Great, but the Housekeeping Guy Coming in the Morning

Actually, I just lived 6ix blocks from Jumeirah Essex House. . I got the room(Central Park Queen) from hotels.com, so my girl friend and I went to spend a night there on Thanksgiving(11/27) , and if it is good, then I will let my family to stay there when X'mas visiting. At first, I have to say that it is a great hotel from the location and the renovation. The first impression is really great! Everything is new and very clean. But when I check in, they gave me the third floor room (room 309)..even I tried to change the room to higher floor, but they said no room available. So, ok, we took it...so what is view from my luxury Central Park room? Yeah, the tree top of Central Park, and the temporary construction canopy from pedestrian walk....The view is kind of making me disappoint...but my girlfriend tried calm me down... OK..this was first part. Then, the second part is the next ridiculous morning!! Next morning, around 9:30, when we was sleeping with our underwear, there was a black guy with employee's uniform came into our room..it was really scared us. He just gave us one bell ring then just open the door come in..We event still were on the bed without any consciousness. It is very unprofessional for a four or five stars rating hotel to have this kind of problem. And this time, it was the turn for my girl friend getting crazy, and I tried to calm her down. When we checked out, of course, we told them what happened in the morning., but they looks like not a big problem..We were really upset...This is really a good hotel from the location and interior of building, but for the service...it is kind of horrible..maybe we are just unlucky!

Great Hotel but be Weary of Small King Room

I have stayed here before and consider it one of my favorite places to stay on business. Great access to central park and surrounding. Just be careful that you don't get placed in one of the small king rooms. Not much space to manuever...

We loved the hotel, and the service. The room was great, and the bathroom was roomy and had everything we needed. Location was just what we wanted. Only negative was the temperature and pressure of the shower could have been hotter and stronger.
