PROS: 1)Great location with easy access to subways and taxis. 2)Grand Hyatt offered a 20% discount. CONS: 1)Rooms are quite old, and the windows are not properly insulated. It was quite cold, even though the heater was set to 75F. 2) There was a strong urine stench in the bathroom especially the tub. 3) A few spiders in the room. Book Now!

Really Nice Hotel and OK Price in NYC for Service

It was a really nice hotel right next to Grand Central terminal which definitely made traveling easier. It was near Park Ave. and close to Times Square but away from all the hustle and bustle of holiday tourists. The room was a little smaller than expected but it was in good condition and the price seemed pretty decent for a hotel in a nice location in NYC during the holiday season but was still a little expensive. Glam Lobby, Pleasant Staff, Broken Outlet/Hairdryer

I stayed at the Grand Hyatt during the holidays and while the lobby is glamorous any time, the decorations made it especially so. (This was my fourth visit. Or fifth?) The staff always impresses me. This time, a young woman concierge told us about a sushi restaurant that had terrific food, was reasonably priced and in walking distance -- a real feat! When I asked for a sewing kit at the front desk, so I could mend a loose button, the clerk handed me two. "You might need a little more thread,"he said. My room was pleasantly appointed, with a flat-screen TV and a wonderfully comfortable bed. I would wish for a coffee maker and a mini-fridge, comforts most good hotels have these days and the Grant Hyatt does not. (You want us to use room service. We get it.) A $10 daily fee for wireless always grates. The hairdryer in the bathroom did not work, not a happy discovery when you have dripping hair, 22-degree weather outside and an appointment to make. Kudos to the Housekeeping staff, which brought me another hair dryer within 15 minutes. But brickbats to the Hyatt team that purchases emergency dryers. The cord on this one was less than four feet long -- and it turned out to be the plug in the bathroom that was faulty, not the wall-installed dryer. (Did anyone even consider that possibility?) The short cord meant I couldn't work on my hair in the bathroom or near the room's only other mirror, located on a closet door. (No plug near enough.) My choice was to plug the dryer into an outlet behind a chair, then dry my hair sort of hunched over. Or else, unplug my computer and use the desk lamp outlet, which I did. While my hair did get dry, I couldn't see to style it -- so let's not talk about how I looked at my meeting. Let's just say my appearance was not a confidence-builder and that the time all this cost meant I was within three minutes of being late. Things do break sometimes. I wouldn't have minded calling Housekeeping for a replacement dryer had I then been able to.Book Now!

Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Location next to Grand Central Terminal a definite plus. Easy walk to 5th Avenue and United Nations. We did not eat in the hotel, numerous places to eat nearby in all price ranges. Book Now!

Good Hotel

Hotel is good. The lobby is grand but rooms are small. The room looks small because it's cluttered. The room was clean, but the bathroom although renovated didn't seem to be very clean. Book Now!
