The good: - Decor is nice, padded headboards, beautiful bathrooms. - Minibar prices not out of this world, and fridge is available for storage of own beverages and food. - Comfortable pillows - Quick response to reservation issue - Quick response to ironing board and mending kit request - Library in lobby contains Hitchhiker's Guide series! - Close to Fulton St/Broadway-Nassau so easy access to A/C/2/3/4/5/J/M/Z - Close to one nice Whole Foods-type market and one 24-hour grocery - Restaurant has good burgers and amazing fries. Also cozy and reasonably priced for NYC. - Very nice TV - iPod dock on alarm clock The bad: - The reservation was messed up on hotel's part - Business center computers are slow and full of adware - Room still smelled of fresh paint a little - Boring beer selection at bar/restaurant - One wall lamp in the room was loose. - Nowhere to sit except bed The weird - Condoms and cheap drug store sex toys in minibar (plus $200 'sensuality kit') - The big leather toy rhino in the lobby - The address is on Gold St but there are no doors that open onto Gold St. The untested - Did not try the fitness centers - Did not try either the inroom broadband or the laptop rental.![]()
Great service, though a bit outdated aside from the look of things

The hotel room was definitely worth the money. The size was decent, though nothing spectacular. I expected this coming in, given that it was a NYC area. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom wasn't as bad as people said though I can see why people might feel uncomfortable about it given the semi-see through nature of it. The staff was friendly and helpful in acquiring goods and other services. Room service was also quick, though pricey. But these complaints are only a minor detraction if anything at all. What could have made it more enjoyable or did I have gripes about? The halls were a bit narrow so that you could hear the comings and goings of other people. So it was a bit noisy, especially with late night guests. Also the financial district is not a great place to be if you're in it for the nightlife. But that suited me fine as it kept the neighborhood quiet when I went to turn in to sleep. But the noise coming from the air temperature system (heating duct) was noisy and actually woke me up at one point. I actually had some problems with the TV as the TV would shut off by itself, but it was easily fixable by simply turning it back on. It only happened rarely, but I should point out that it did. The amenities given were a plus, but the towels were not good quality and a bit hard, though I have experienced worse. All in all, a great value place that actually looks decent. Though it's not as fancy as the other boutique-style hotels, it was well worth the time spent and I would go again.![]()
More Right than Wrong...Though a Bit Odd

Gild Hall: Good location for Financial District, My "upgraded" room was OK - though would have gladly traded the "Pleasure Kit" and the billboard sized leather headboard, for an ironing board, in-room coffee, an actual bathroom door & wall (not glass) or even a decent desk & chair. Comfortable bed, thankfully. Window seats were uselessly tiny. Desk chair was more style, less comfort. The staff people were exceptionally nice and attentive. Food, OK. The fitness "club" is actually 3 separate closets on different floors: disappointingly small. ![]()
