OK hotel close to JFK
The experience was average. We booked a room with a king sized bed and ended up with a double. We went to reception and they changed our room to the one we booked, which was expected. Inconvenient but not bad. Typically we don't get room service. Since we had a long day, we didn't want to go out for a late-late dinner due to the neighborhood. We ordered room service. That night, room service was non-existent: Apparently their staff called out sick and ended up having to pick up and pay for our stuff from the lounge restaurant. Horrible. The free shuttle to JFK was great and the driver was courteous. Excellent. I was not impressed with the hotel but would only recommend it if you need a hotel that's less than 15 minutes from JFK.

I wish the hotel had a refrigarator, and offer some kind of breakfast.

The hotel was very near JFK airport and they provided transportation to and from it. the hotel was in a sketchy part of town but if you dont plan on walking anywhere from the hotel you'll be fine. the bed was really confrontable but there was a few stains on the bed spread. the bathroom was really nice. nooone answered the phone when you called down to the front desk because i think they were understaffed when i went. all in all it was a very good hotel for the price that i payed for it.

We had a two night stay at the DoubleTree. Everyone serving us was very nice, however, we never had a key that worked. We had to rely on security or housekeeping to get into our room. Saturday morning I handed my keys to the desk clerk and asked her to make sure we had keys that worked when we came back after the Belmont Stakes. Didn't happen. Also I would expect a hair dryer and a small refrigerator. The cookies were excellent.

Upon our arrival on Sat., May 31 the hot water was not in service. The staff never mentioned this to us at checkin. By the time we checked out the following morning the water was still not running hot or clean. Brown water with particles of dirt spit out when we turned the water on. The staff were less than courteous and failed to even offer compensation for this episode. It took numerous calls and 3 hours on the phone to get someone to return our calls.

The windows of the hotel appear that they had not been clened in 20 years. The shower was broke. One of the rooms smelled of cigarettes. The only thing positive was the transportation to and from JFk airport and the great drivers. Not quite sure of security. There was someone in the hall - 5th floor - who did not appear to belong to the place. He left after we questioned him.
