Set in the year 1934 on west coast of Ireland, Robert Flaherty, the Hollywood filmmaker arrives on Inishmore, the neighboring island to make his documentary film, Robert Flaherty’s ‘The Man of Aran’. He gets excited with Inishmaan, the sleepy community.  The orphaned Billy Craven gets relentlessly scorned by island’s inhabitants. He wants to escape from poverty of his existence. To the surprise of everyone, the cripple gets the chance.
The funny, sad and exhilarating new play is by Martin McDonagh. McDonagh is adept in telling story by capturing both sadness and humor of people devoid of economic advantages or cultural or social stimulus

The Cripple of Inishmaan is coproduced by Atlantic Theater Company with Druid Galway. (Earlier they collaborated for The Beauty Queen of Leenane, the 1998 Tony Award winner.
