Washington Square Park
by NYTP Staff

The Washington Square Park in the neighborhood of the Greenwich Village in Manhattan is one of the New York City’s parks that is also a landmark. As it is well known, the Big Apple is as famous for its hustle and bustle as it is for the Statue of Liberty. When you are in the Big Apple you must also find a place where you can get away from that hustle and bustle that is synonymous with the City of New York. The Washington Square Park is located on only 9.75 acres of land in New York and provides a haven for those who love peace and quiet.

When you have taken almost 2 dozen steps into the Washington Square Park you would have most certainly stepped into the world of tranquility where you can hear the birds chirping and the winds blowing, a few things that usually can’t be heard in the City of New York. The marble arch at the Washington Square Park was erected back in 1892 as a celebration of the centennial of George Washington’s inauguration as the first president of the United States of America. For some peace and quiet in New York, the Washington Square Park is the place to be.
