Staten Island Ferry
by NYTP Staff

In New York the best way to have a total view of Lower Manhattan is to take Staten Island Ferry ride. During the ride not only you will get beautiful view of this part of Manhattan, you will also get a stately sight of the famed Statue of Liberty. The ride by the ferry boat will take you to the Staten Island.

The ferry ship leaves Lower Manhattan from the Whitehall terminal and reaches Staten Island at St George Terminal. It is better to take a position in the front or back of the ship. Immediately on leaving Whitehall terminal your attention will be drawn by the powerful tug boats of the New York Harbor majestically riding the Bay. When you gain a little distance you will get at spectacular view of the Statue of Liberty. Then the beautiful skyline of the Lower Manhattan will emerge.

When you go farther away you can see the Verrangano Bridge at a distance. More ferry boats and tug boats come into you sight.

One way ride will take about 30 minutes. Anytime you can return to Lower Manhattan by the ferry boat itself. Twenty four hour ferry service is provided. The ride is free of cost for pedestrians.
