Central Park
by NYTP Staff

The Central Park has been enjoying the National Historic Landmark status since 1963 even though it was opened in 1859. The park was designed Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux so beautifuly that this entirely landscaped park looks 100% natural. The Central Park is a fairly large urban park with 843 acres of land and has almost 25 million visitors every year. Maintained by the Central Park Conservancy which is a non profit organization the Central Park is kept neat even though many people pas through it. The Central Park is also a common location that can be seen in many Hollywood movies.

The Central Park contains many ponds and lakes that look very natural, long walking tracks, two ice skating rinks and the Central Park Zoo as well. The Central Park Zoo wasn’t part of the original design initially. The Central Park is a paradise for migrating birds adding more color to the park. The Central Park also has many enclosed play grounds for children and has very attractive bridges of which all are entirely different. The Central Park has its very own natural forest and the Central Park is the only place in the Big Apple where a lot of greenery can be seen in abundance.
