American Museum of Natural History

The American Museum of Natural History was founded in 1869 and can be found on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York. This museum is ones of the largest museums in the entire world with 25 buildings that are interconnected with each other. It has got 46 permanent exhibition halls a few research libraries and its very own renowned library. The American Museum of Natural History houses over 32 million specimens and displays only a minor percent of that. The library in the American Museum of Natural History was founded in 1880 and contains hundreds of thousands of volumes of books and other articles.

 

The American Museum of Natural History has got habitat groups of Asian, African and North American mammals including a full sized model of a Blue Whale. The Hall of Biology and Evolution on the first floor is one of the places that have to be seen when visiting the American Museum of Natural History in New York. The Halls of Minerals and Gems hold some of the rarest gems that man kind has ever seen or heard of.  The Fossil Halls is the place where the past comes back to life, here the museums rich collection of mammalian and dinosaur fossils can be seen.
