Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark City

Newark Liberty International Airport is a public airport serving the Newark City. The Airport was earlier named as Newark Airport and later as Newark International Airport. The airport was opened on 1928. In 1935, the Newark Airport Building was dedicated by Amelia Earhart. In 1948, the Airport was took over by the Port Authority, after which major infrastructure investments were made. The International Airport is located in the limits of New Jersey as well as Newark and Elizabeth. The airport is located at a distance of 24 km. from the southwest of New York City (Midtown Manhattan). The airport is operated by New York and New Jersey’s Port Authority. The airport serves as a hub for Continental Airlines. FedEx Express is the major cargo hub at the airport. In terms of number of passengers, the Airport ranks top amongst busiest airport systems in the USA, second to London in the world.
