LaGuardia Airport is a public airport serving the New York City. The Airport was earlier named as Idlewild Airport. The Airport, located in Flushing Bay, NYC, is operated by New York and New Jersey’s Port Authority. The airport is situated on the Flushing Bay’s waterfront and neighborhoods of Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst and Astoria. The Airport has 2 Asphalt made surfaced runways and 2 helipads. The Airport was earlier known as Glenn Curtiss Airport, named after Glenn Hammond Curtiss, the aviation pioneer. It was later known as North Beach Airport. The airport’s present name was named after the former New York’s Mayor Fiorello La Guardia. The Airport is the smallest of the 3 primary commercial airports of New York’s metropolitan area. The airport is centrally located and is very near to Manhattan. Worldwide Aviation Community, in 1960, voted the airport as the world’s greatest airport.
