John F. Kennedy Airport is a public airport serving the New York City. The Airport was earlier named as Idlewild Airport. The Airport was also named after Major General Alexander Anderson, a resident of Queens, who commanded a unit of Federalised National Guard. In 1963, the Airport was renamed after the late President John F. Kennedy. The Airport, located in Queen’s Jamaica  in NYC, is operated by New York and New Jersey’s Port Authority. The airport is located at about 19 km distance from Lower Manhattan. It has 4 Asphalt made surfaced runways and 4 helipads. The JFK Airport is credited as an international passenger gateway to the USA. By value of shipments the Airport is also a top freight gateway to the United States. JetBlue Airways has its operational base in the Airport.  The Airport also serves as a main international gateway hub for American Airlines and Delta Airlines. Around 90 airlines operate in the Kennedy Airport.
